I have chosen this great video as I feel it has been put together very well. It is a blantant rip off/"mickey take" of a stereotypical boy band video which made me laugh but has also included some very good angles, mise-en-scene, choreography and more. If I was to give this a grade I believe it would have got an “A” because it includes many aspects in which would make it of a great standard.

First of all it there are many different scenes and settings in which they have linked through characters which work well together. In fact the whole music video has been linked together through the use of a simple dance routine. The dance routine is simple sign language which emphasises the lyrics to the song.

A very wide range of camera shots have been used, within the first few second you have already seen about 3 different shots creating an instant attraction to this video. It also has different entrances to the different camera shots, it the very first shot there is a simple zoom out which is very effective and as you watch the video you are introduced to many different shots. Including long shots, close ups, interesting angles from above and below them. Each shot has at least one of the characters in it and is very character based. Through the camera shots you can tell that the boy band members are very important for the audience by making them look “sexy” for teenage girls who would watch that video.

This music video has a very well fitted tempo to it. It uses fast paced editing when the music is fast and slow editing when the music is slow. It also doesn’t give away everything at the beginning which can ruin a music video. There is large variety of different lengths of shot which makes it more interesting than flat samey scenes.

I think that the setting is the best part of this video as they have used soooo many different settings and have made them work with their song. Naturally for a boy band song there are cheesy sun sets and open fields which they have used well.

When the music turns into a more urban style the characters and setting turns into a urban feel with graffiti all around and “gangsta” style outfits.

They have also used a stage which focuses more on their dancing where they are wearing tuxedos.

Their last setting is in a car with a hot girl which is brilliant, in many pop videos there is an attractive girl which will bring in a new audience to watch the video, thus making sales higher. It's also set in a car which gives the scene a little difference.

Their performance plays a big part in this video, without the dance routines and confident characters this wouldn’t have been right. In most pop videos the superstars and arrogant and show off their bodies, in this case they have imitated them exactly right!

It fits in perfectly with the genre, this type of video would not have worked with a rock or “indie” video. The factor of imitation to pop stars has made this into a very stereotypical and cliché pop video.

Is that ok? FIX IT JACK MAKE IT BETTER PLEASEE!!
